How to Freeze Your Sourdough Loaf for Freshness Anytime
Freezing your sourdough bread is an easy way to enjoy freshly baked goodness whenever you like. Follow these simple steps to preserve your loaf for up to 2 months.
Whole Loaf Method:
After baking and cooling, place your entire sourdough loaf in a large Ziplock bag and seal it tightly. When you're ready to enjoy, run the frozen loaf under cold water, then pop it into a preheated oven at 300°F for 20-30 minutes. This keeps the crust crispy and the inside soft, just like fresh-out-of-the-oven bread.
Tip: For slower thawing, you can let it sit on the counter for a few hours before reheating.Sliced Loaf Method:
Slice your cooled loaf and place the pieces on a cookie sheet. Freeze for about 30 minutes, then transfer the slices into a Ziplock bag. This pre-freezing step prevents the slices from sticking together. When you’re craving a slice, simply toast it directly from the freezer—no need to thaw first!
